An A-line skirt crafted from supple nylon taffeta. Dimensional pleats are created by lifting and securing the fabric at the seam, resulting in a distinctive silhouette that differs from traditional gathers or tucks.

Made from two-way stretch fabric with an elasticated waist, it offers a comfortable FREE-size fit. Pockets at both sides add everyday practicality. Simple yet distinctive, it is an easy piece to style with a wide range of tops.

The Story Behind the Piece

Designer's Note


“A Detail Born from Failure”


Every now and then, I get the urge to collect vintage fabrics.

But finding one that really feels right is rare. So when I do, I tend to buy as much as I can.

Vintage fabrics often come in very limited quantities—sometimes only enough for a single garment. That makes deciding what to create from them both exciting and difficult.

I try to think about what the fabric itself wants to become. For me, it is a little like cooking: the better the ingredient, the more you want to bring out what is already there rather than force it into something else.

The pleat detail used in this skirt began with a vintage jacquard fabric. It had enough structure to create beautiful, curtain-like folds, so I used it to make a one-of-a-kind skirt.

To be honest, I was not completely satisfied with that skirt. I tried a lot of ideas, but something about it never felt quite right.

Still, one detail from that failed experiment stayed with me. That pleat eventually developed into the PLEAT A-LINE SKIRT, PLEAT CAMI DRESS, and PLEAT DENIM DRESS.

Failure can feel like failure in the moment, but sometimes it becomes the starting point for something much better later on.

That is why I think it is worth continuing to experiment, even when everything does not work out the first time.

Pre-Orders & Ordering

Many MASAHIRO OKUNO items are available on a pre-order basis.

Each item has its own pre-order period and estimated shipping schedule, so please check the relevant product page before placing your order. Orders will be shipped sequentially according to the stated shipping schedule.

As pre-order items are produced based on confirmed orders, cancellations and changes to color or size cannot generally be accepted once an order has been placed.

Shipping & Delivery

Orders will be shipped according to the estimated shipping schedule shown on each product page. Once your order has been shipped, tracking information will be sent to your registered email address.

For deliveries within Japan, shipping is free on orders of ¥20,000 or more (including tax). For orders under ¥20,000, the shipping fee and available delivery method will be shown at checkout.

If your order includes multiple items with different shipping schedules, they may be shipped separately.

Delivery may be delayed due to weather, transportation conditions, or other unforeseen circumstances.

If you need to change your delivery address after placing an order, please contact us before the order has been shipped.
International Orders

We offer international shipping to selected countries and regions available at checkout.

Shipping fees vary depending on the destination and will be displayed at checkout.

Any customs duties, import taxes, and value-added tax (VAT) incurred on international orders will be covered by the Store. In principle, customers will not be required to pay these charges separately upon delivery.

Please note that delivery may take longer due to international transportation, customs clearance, or other circumstances.
